InnoDB is a MySQL database engine, which has been gaining popularity in recent years, as it offers a significantly better overall performance and an improved database crash recovery compared with the default engine used by MySQL – MyISAM. InnoDB is used by plenty of web developers that write highly scalable web applications, because it works more effectively with immense volumes of data, while it keeps the server load at a minimum. Moreover, it uses row-level locking if anything should be modified, while many other engines lock the entire database table and thus need more time to handle multiple consecutive tasks. Last, but not least, InnoDB obeys the "all-or-nothing" rule – in case the modification of the entire data cannot be completed for any reason, the operation is rolled back to prevent scrambling or data loss. Magento and the latest Joomla™ versions are two examples of famous PHP script-powered software apps which have moved to InnoDB.
InnoDB in Cloud Web Hosting
InnoDB is offered with all our Linux cloud web hosting packages by default, not upon request or as a paid upgrade, so you will be able to install and manage any PHP script-based web app which requires the InnoDB storage engine without the need to deal with any difficulty as soon as you activate your shared account. InnoDB will be selected automatically as the default engine for a given MySQL database during the app installation process, regardless of whether you make use of our 1-click installer or create the MySQL database and install the app manually, as long as the app requires InnoDB instead of the more famous MyISAM engine. We will create daily backups of all your databases, so you can rest assured that you will never lose any content if you erase a database accidentally or you overwrite some vital information – you will just have to alert us and we’ll restore your content back to normal.
